We encourage anyone interested in a horse or advertisement to make further inquiries, prior to buying/ bidding, and, if possible, schedule a day/time to go try the horse.

  • How long have you owned the horse/did you raise the horse?
  • Who were the previous owners of the horse?
  • What is your reason for selling?
  • What is the horse’s behavior like? 
  • What kind of professional training or showing has the horse had and with whom?
  • What are the horses’ living conditions: are they turned out on pasture, do they live in a stall, or live in a corral; do they run with other horses or live alone?
  • What is their behavior, if known, when in a stall, alone etc.
  • Has the horse been turned out in barbed wire?
  • Is the horse good with time off that you know of?
  • Is the horse easy to catch?
  • Does the horse bridle and saddle easily?
  • Does the horse have any know vices or bad habits, for example, kick, bite, or rear?
  • Is the horse a cribber, wind sucker, weaver, wobbler, or have any known neurological disorders?
  • Is the horse of sound eyes (have any impaired vision, discolorations) and hearing?
  • Ask about the horses’ conformation and if the horse has an underbite or overbite (parrot mouth)?
  • Does the horse require any corrective shoeing or wear shoe pads?
  • Has the horse ever been vetted, injured, had x-rays, radiographs?
  • Who is the horses’ vet?
  • Has the horse ever been nerved, have navicular disease, have ringbone, been foundered, or have any other known pre-existing conditions?
  • Is the horse on any medications?
  • What kind of maintenance does the horse require and how often?
  • If mare, has she ever been bred? Did she have a live foal, were there any complications? Has she had any reproductive health problems?
  • Has the horse ever been 5 panel tested, if so, results?
